INFO
When two respectable, thirty-something sisters and their best friend end up in jail one night there has to be a reason for it. But then Sofia’s job’s been axed, Julia’s sleeping with a patient and Emmi´s been mixing the booze and the anti-depressants.
As each woman tries, but rarely succeeds, to help and support the two others, the actors recreate the bosses, spouses, lovers and children, the shopkeepers, judges and passers by with whom they seem to be eternally on a collision course with.
The road to their chaotic hell is paved with good intentions, it is deeply touching and endearing. This is Almodóvar in thermal underwear as Myllyaho’s dark comedy lifts the lid on modern, urban womanhood.
- ‘This was an excellent piece of theatre, performed by three extremely talented, freelance Scottish actors.’
FRINGE REVIEW
Turku City Theatre (Turun Kaupunginteatteri)
Turku City Theatre was founded in 1946 and was the oldest Municipal theatre in Finland until the end of year 2013, owned and administrated by the City of Turku. From 1.1.2014 Turku City Theatre works as a limited company. The theatre has always been a traditional repertory theatre staging several plays on all its platforms simultaneously.
The theatre has three performance spaces. The Main Stage seats 654 spectators, the small stage Sopukka (“The Nook”) is adjustable to 80-140 spectators and the smallest studio stage Pikkolo accommodates up to 60 spectators. The first floor foyer can also be used as a performance space; it seats up to 150 spectators.
